The Greenwood Method
| THE GREENWOOD METHOD
CGSA Levels of Student Development
Levels I, II, III
What is it's function?
The Greenwood Method is the complete ideology for the various program's curriculum. It has been designed to cover the primary technical, tactical, physiological and psychological components that are required to become a high-level soccer player. The Clint Greenwood Soccer Academy stands behind their method 100%, and find it very valuable in their overall approach to every topic, that they are teaching with the student body, at every camp, clinic, private lesson, specialty camp, or video analysis. Coach Greenwood created a dynamic system for coaches to be able to use a large variety of different exercises that break down each technical and tactical detail that is being taught in each session. The Greenwood Method started off as the style of teaching of the Academy, but with many years of transformation, it became a very unique training style that acts as a very important Soccer teaching tool for CGSA full-time, and part-time coaches when they are carrying out a lesson plan for one of the CGSA many different programs.
The program's main goal is to fill each student with innovative education of Football through creative drills, and fun activities that stimulate their minds. "Everything Begins with a Thought" CGSA has transformed the way they think! "The Thoughts That You Take Determines the Actions That you MAKE". The Academy's foundation is based on the teaching of soccer skills of the world class players, and their thought process. The CGSA philosophy doesn't just focus on their physical attributes. CGSA believes in "It's not what you do, but "Why you Do It" not just their physical talents.
What's different about the Greenwood Method©?
The Clint Greenwood Soccer Academy is rare in that it customizes every workout based on the talent and the ability of the group, team, and individual ability of each. The Method is created from CGSAs original philosophy of the 6 levels of technical components of a professional soccer player. The individual ball familiarity and individual technical enhancement , passing and receiving, speed, quickness, reaction time, and overall athleticism, tactical awareness and Soccer IQ, imagination in the game, and the building of a professional soccer player's mentality. The Greenwood Method and the mind behind it explains some of the ways and ideas that describe the Clint Greenwood Soccer Academy and its professional focus on developing elite skillful, tactical, physical, and mentally sharp footballers. These are the attributes that serve as the D.N.A. of the Best Footballers in The World, and provide CGSA with a blueprint for their overall player development program and outline the method in which the Academy teaches it. The authenticity of the Greenwood Method is a rare thing in Soccer. With the drop off of programs across the world not establishing a technical system that is unique to others, serves CGSA well which makes their business a popular choice to the developing players that wish to play at their highest ability. The main concern for CGSA is to offer great technical training, and physical preparation so that each one of their students can adapt to different styles of play.
In terms of specific style and identification, the Clint Greenwood Soccer Academy is second to none in this department. "With Soccer, it is an athletic competition with knowledge taking a bigger part in the outcome, rather than talent takes a bigger role in the success. The amount of effectiveness that the trainer, and coach offers makes a huge impact on individual development, as well as team and club culture. The Clint Greenwood Soccer Academy has built their entire identity solely on the Authenticity of their intentions. CGSA technical training, and their all new rhythmic training, is a great opportunity for the serious Soccer player that one day aspires to capture the knowledge that hasn't been offered in the United States.
"Total Footballing Development"
Director, Greenwood has continued his passionate belief on continuing his pursuit of advancing his philosophy of his belief that Total Football is Best. He first heard of a complete team’s tactical approach when he was just 12 years old, and the former Dutch professional coach Rinus Michels wrote a book on his tactical belief of Total Football, and its effect on World Soccer. Total Football's tactical success depends largely on the adaptability of each footballer within the team, in particular the ability to quickly switch positions depending on the on-field situation. The theory requires players to be comfortable in multiple positions; hence, it places high technical and physical demands on them. This is where Clint's passion for individual skill importance, and attacking with numerical advantage + dribbling to break down defenses began to take light. The Greenwood Method is created to utilize the many different techniques that manipulates the ball in such a way to unbalance the opponents defense, and with a total team approach with all players with the same skills can overtake any organized defense. During the 70's when Rinus introduced this style, the main purpose was to use it to win games but to make sure that the brilliance of their great player like Johan Cruyff who was listed as a center forward, but with Total Football approach, he was more like a quarter back in American football, pulling the strings like a puppet master. The likes of Maradona, Ronaldino, Michel Platini, Pele, Zico, and Zinadine Zidane all were awarded with the change in Football tactics. At Clint Greenwood Soccer Academy, we have instilled into all our student body the importance of technical authority is the difference maker in Football, and nothing can stop a skillful superior player, or team. The Greenwood Method is the foundation of all our training programs, and is looking forward to continuing to lead the way in Total Footballing Development.

How Does It Affect My Child's Development?
As your education increases, the more you will understand the Greenwood Method. The ideology behind the philosophy of Coach Greenwood's training system is not simple. All of it is from instinctual thought process from a very unique Soccer player. According to many Soccer Personalities such as Terry Yorath (Former Welsh Mngr.), Osvaldo Ardiles (1978 W.C. Champion, Argentina | Former Manager, Swindon Town F.C.), Ian Bowyer, (Former player Manchester City, and Nottingham Forrest, Former Manager, Hereford United), Clint was unique in that he definitely wasn't scared of making mistakes. In fact, Clint utilized his skill to create many amazing plays.
"I wish I could have coached him longer, says Alan Durban, Cardiff City Manager 1985."
"Ossie let me express myself during practice and in the matches. In fact he encouraged it and many times told me if we had more skillful base I would run the show in a creative role in midfield. I enjoyed it and met some great mates, like Paul Bodin also Welsh, Steve Chaulky White from Bristol, and a Scott named Colin Calderwood who was a great man and was the captain of the side, says Greenwood."
CGSA empowers each player's comprehension to The Greenwood Method and directs their development...
"After all these years of training young players, I have come to the same conclusion as many coaches/ trainers before me. The skill has to make a difference. The only way that happens is to practice. PRACTICE MAKES PERMANENT. At CGSA we technically break each movement down, dissects them and input them into exercises which systematically trains both their body's and their minds. This step by step process is organized and used in progression, always testing the best players to go home and practice what they were doing at training. All this achieved by providing each player with professional coaching, age specific technical curriculum, and excellent facilitiess. Each student will recognize through the method their weak areas and their strong ones. It's my staff and my responsibility to outline their overall ability and develop each player to be a complete footballer. The Greenwood Method is recognized by being successful in coming up with day to day curriculum's that serves great benefit in player development. I understand that each student's talent base is different and their passion and perseverance levels are as well. This is our challenge each and every session. However The Greenwood Method has been created to teach skill while teaching the will. Surpass Your Best is our motto at The Clint Greenwood Soccer Academy. I stay steadfast in my commitment to educating each student I come across, explains Clint."
